Default Boy Did I Screw Up!

Well, I screwed up. A friend of mne told me that I should get this powered subwoofer for my mustang and it would sound great since I don't have much space. He knows quite a bit about car stereos so I took his word for it. It came yesterday and it won't fit in the trunk of my car. When he told me it would fit nicely, he didn't take into account that I have a convertible and you lose about a foot or two of trunk space.

So now I have to take my car down to Sound Advice and have them measure my trunk to custom build me a box to hold the sub and the amp. So at least when they're done, it will fit in the trunk however I want it to, but I'm pretty pissed that it doesn't fit straight out, but I guess as long as the new box fits I'll be happy.

LOL you can say that again. It'll run me between $100 and $200 to get a custom box built so I think I'll return the speaker and have them build me a box that will hold 2 10's and then just buy a 2 channel amp to power them and call it a damn day.

Remember....

Measure twice, cut/buy once.

Have you considered building your own box?

I've thought about it, but I don't know the first thing about how to do it, or how much airspace to leave for the sub to work properly. And I'm not sure if I know anybody who does either.

I know your feeling. You should be able to get 2 10s to fit alot better then my 2 12s. Iv already went through one box(thats what it was nothing special just a box) then to one that the subs sit sideways. Right now im thinking of buying a new but out of fiberglass and just call it quits. Iv already spent about 350 on just boxes.

You should really consider buidling your own. It is really not that hard, and you can get the exact results you want. It just takes patience and little experimentation.

I talked to them about the fiberglass route, and they said that they could fit 1 12" in the little pocket on the right and leave the rest of the trunk open, but that type of box would run about $300 and take 2 days to complete. I'm thinking about doing that though just to have my trunk free.
