Does speaker output blow mach 460 amp?
Hi guys, I'm really as ignorant as the question sounds. This weekend I tried to replace the pioneer stereo the previous owner put in the wifes 96 gt. I followed the advice of the neighbor teen and bypassed the aftermarket looking adapter and wired the Alpine speaker outputs to the 460 amp using only the plug from the adapter that hooks up to the amp (small square with 8 pins), no sound. Then I tied into the rectangular factory plug to the left of the factory head unit and have sound but no bass. Did I smoke the amp or can I get the right adapters and still go through it? I should have done the research before charging ahead but I just figured the neighbor new what he was talking about. After some research here I learn there may be three amps? Did I kill 'em all? I may be in the market for someones used amps.
I appreciate your advice, just dont kick me while I'm down, the wife is doing that already because her stereo sounds bad.[:@]

You can use speaker level inputs into the 3 mach 460 amps, at least i have been doing that for a while with no problems. You can use this wiring harness http://www.crutchfield.com/S-yoypQGa...amp;tab=reviewand just cut the black box out of it, It will work with the black box however without it the stero will be a lot louder and sound better. You could also use this harness http://www.cardomain.com/item/SCOFD06BThat is the part for the speaker inputs and this http://www.cardomain.com/item/SCOFD08Bis the harness to power the radio. Good luck with it
Thanks for the help guys, I guess by your replies that I maybe didn't ruin anything. I don't understand why I got no sound when I had the speaker level outputs hooked up to the amp the first time. I thought I ruined something, I'll try to get the scosche adapter and find out for sure.
Thanks again
Thanks again
check out page 2 of my car domaign page it shows what I did. Let me know if you have questions.
Sounds like you need to connect the remote turn of of the deck (blue and white) to the amp turn on(blue).

ttocs you da man.. You pointed out the obvious, it was the blue wire. In my defense I was putting in an Alpine that was previously in a 95 t-bird that didn't need that wire hooked up so it wasn't. I didn't touch that plug because I didn't think of amp power, I just wired in the square speaker plug and assumed everything would go to plan...What??
Anyhoo it's amazing the sound that somes out when you power up the amp.
Thanks guys for all the help, the missus will be happy
and so should I.
