amp suggestions for alpine x-type components
Hey all,
I just recently got a set of alpine x-type components (6.5 inch mids, 1 inch tweets) from a buddy who won them in a contest at work. He sold them to me super cheep! Anyway, just looking for some suggestions on a suitable amp to run them. I am open to really anything, but would like to stay in the $300 plus or minus range. I plan to just keep the alpine s-type 5x7s in the rear decklid of my car for filler. Any help would be great! Thanks in advance!

Would you prefer the flexability of bi-amping those comps or would you prefer the simplicity of a single speaker wire to the comps?
I would get yourself a nice 4 channel amp and bi-amp those comps.

Yah I think bi-amping would probably offer better performance wouldnt you say? If so, I could go with a good 4 channel, and I also have a 2 channel alpine (50x2 at 4ohm) laying around that I could use for the rears for fill. That sounds like the best option. So with that in mind, what would be a good amp to look at for that 300 to 400 price range
i wouldn't run any rear fill, not to mention running an amp on them. That would destroy your soundstage. If you do amp the rears set the low pass to aroudn 500hz so they act as midbass's not full range speakers.
If you already have a 50x2 channel amp I would power the tweetswith that and watch yourgains.
Then I sould spend the rest on a high output 4 channel to power the mids and a sub.
for 3-4 hundred I would do...
1.US Amps http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...roduct_ID=5310$390
2. Polk http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...roduct_ID=4114$370
3. Soundstream http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...roduct_ID=3181$320
4. ED http://www.edesignaudio.com/edv2/pro...products_id=46$245 but backordered.

cool that definitely helps. I have a 10 inch inifinity perfect in sealed box in the trunk with a 400 watt rms amp so the sub is squared away pretty well. I am pretty pleased with the sound at the moment, but may change the sub setup in the future. Would there be a better use of the rear speaker location? Buy some 6.5 mid bass drivers or something? Or for the sake of sound quality just cut them out of the equation. Thanks again PReal!
I would really just cut them out.
Try it out for yourself. Just disconnect the rears, or don't install them. Then install the Type X's and do some sound deadening and you should be blown away. If you already have the sub amp and the 2 channel, I would get another 2 channel with around 100x2 for the woofers. Really, you could power the tweets off the HU (they need very very little power), and use the 50x2 for the mids. If you try that and aren't happy, then get a more powerful amp.
