I like alpine personally. Been installing them for over 10 yrs now and always been impressed with the performance.

Great: High level eclipse, mcintosh, denon, nakamichi, the old rockfrod fosgate that was a rebadged denon

Good: Alpine, clarion, middle/lower level eclipse, high level sony, panasonic, pioneer

Bad: most sony, lanzar, pyle, dual, jvc

+1 Except the higher Arsenal series from JVC is more in the good range in my opinion. I recommend Eclipse more than anything though. The McIntosh, Denon are going to be harder to find, and very expensive.

+1 on alpine's. Bang for the buck theyre the best decks out there. Rugged, good looking, LOTS of features, more tuning options than most people know what to do with. Did I mention theyre durable, I had a 1 **** tape deck that I bought in 1992 that I just retired last year, and that was only because the paint finally wore off of the buttons.
