Oh no, NOT THE BASS!!!
My system consist of front cheap *** Jemsen door and dash speakers power by the Alpine headunit, Two blown 5x8's Kickers that I am having replaced soon in back, and two Memphis subs in subbox in trunk. The system sounded very nice to be in a Vert and I enjoyed it. today after doing some minor repais under the hood, I sprayed the engine compartment down with "Engine Gunk" and hosed it off afterwards and shiniying the engine compartment up with "Armor All". After I did all of this, the amplifiers stop working to my subs and my Kickers(which are blown). Nevertheless, I have no bass anymore and no power light on the amps. I checked all the wiring coming from the Soleniod of the car to the in line 60 amps fuse in the 4-ga wire and even the connections in the trunk. Everything is still tightly hooked up with distribution blocks for all power amps wires and grounds. The 60 amp fuse was swapped out but was not blown. (It did not seat itself in the fuseholder tightly) What could my problem be?I didn't have too much time to deal with it since the sun was going down. I am stumped. Any suggestions?
Ok, today I had a stereo shop check it out and turns out it was the inline fuse holder short-circuited. There was a black electrical burn inside thefuse that caused it to stop working. Theinline fuse holder was replaced and the system came oin again. But i also found out as the installer was fiddling around with system, that the Mustang has an power amplifier already in it that was under thepassenger seat. I didn't know that Ford installed these things. It was still sort of hooked up and causing my front speakers to do some weird stuff when they were hooked to the ampifier. He disconnected it and they all played well.
I thought something was funny with that also with the fuse holder. I was in a hurry and just bought the new fuse holder. I really could have figured out the problem myself only if I had more time. I didn't know Ford made those little amps that fit right under the passenger side seat. Someway when I was hooking up my amp back in January I saw it and it had a RCA wires hooked up to it. I disconnected that back then but I guess it had some more wires hooked to it that were causing the front speakers to short when the volume was turned up. Yes the installer knew there was an amp under the seat, but I told him that it was totally disconnected. I was wrong.
