Radar detectors?? Worth it?? My wallet and driving records say YES! But remember, the laser detector equipped does not warn...only notifies.

*nods* definitely. The only time I got a speeding ticket was when I had it unplugged.

I'd recommend checking:
www.ubid.com
first because sometimes you can get them for far cheaper (its an overstock for electronics), but its hit or miss.

Also recommend for models:
Rocky Mountain and Valentine and Beltronics.
(I would *not* recommend : Cobra, Whistler, etc. These brands did not perform well on tests)

Mine is a Whistler, and the only time I've been pulled over has been when it was off...like SpawnStang said. I could go on forever on stories about how it's saved me...but my point is, my whistler has never given up on me, although it's an older model...maybe from 1998?? I'll check, but anyways, I'm sure it's nothing compared to Valentine One, but it does it's job for me. It's true, it's a hit or miss...you could end up with a good one, or a total screw up. I had luck with mine, so I will keep using it. When it dies, I will probably go with one that has proven itself. Good luck.

i would love to know if anyone has a Valentine One because i heard they are the top of the line...if anyone does please inform me if they are worth the 400$....i need one and i want to make sure i dont waste $$$$$$$....also i heard they are good because you can send them back to the company and for the cost of the shipping they will update them whenever a new model comes out.

I do not personality like the escort line, I have a bel and I swear by it. I have had one from the day I started driving on my own, and have only gotten (3) tickets (all three were for over 90mph and when I was younger. But it will take a month or so for you to learn when to listen to it and when to ignore it. You have to be careful about the laser guns that they have, usually there is not a lot of warning with thoes, because the cop is picking out a specific car and very little of the laser is picked up by the dictor. I love mine and also bel has a trade in program if you want to upgrade to a newer one in a couple of years (the technology changes often) they will give you some money for your old one as long as you buy direct from them.

what are some good radar detectors that you can mount like, in the grille or something. something that isn't visible inside the car but has like a display or something. i live in va so they're kind of illegal.
