mach 460 with different headunit
I just bought an 01 GT with the mach 460 system in it.The problem is the guy I got the car from has replaced the factory headunit with an aftermarket one. Although it doesn't sound horrible it isn't running the 460 amps that came in the car, they're still there just not hooked up. He said they "wired around them". The car has zero bass. If you turn it up much at all with the bass up just a little it becomes destorted. What should I look into for this headunit to run the whole system, or is that even possible? Thanks
Wire the amps back up and run a head unit that has front and rear outputs, and then utilize your 460 amps. Check my Info thread to see the part you will need to connect a good aftermarket unit to your 460 system. ttocs also has alot of info
I have an '02 with the mach 460, and I basically just want to use same speakers/amp setup, just want a new head unit, is there a particular head unit that plays mp3 and looks good that works best for these 460 system setups, and is there a plug and play harness that would work for these?
Thanks
Thanks

Cool, thanks!! I have the newer style mustang so I think it's just a single plug for the Mach unit, but if anyone has a wiring diagram for what wires go where, I'd appreciate it!
more then likely you can fix you bass problem by wiring up the remote turn on from the radio(blue/white) to the amp turn on in the car(blue if there is an aftermarket hrns in the car). Most people do not wire it up and this will leave the mids and highs playing but not the subs
The guy you bought it from "wired around" the 460 amps for a reason. I just replaced my factory head unit with an aftermarket one and the problem is you can't use the 460 amps with an aftermarket head unit. I don't know the exact reasons why, but you can't hook up the factory amps to an aftermarket headunit. Solution: invest in a decent 4 channel amp with about 800 watts overall power. That would be plenty to power all your speakers and your headunit. If you want a subwoofer down the road you need to buy a seperate class d amp.
