Default Help with install

Ok so i just bought the avic-d3 and i was taking a look at my stock deck and started to get confused. I've installed my stereos on the rest of my cars and i took apart the dash ran new wires and replaced the decks but in my 06 stang i cant find one screw or bolt to undo to get the center console out. Keep in mind my other cars were both from the early 90's how do i go about taking out the old deck and putting the new one in?

Default RE: Help with install

Do a search on console removal or looka at the Taco Bill install stickies in the 05 tech Forum. The shifter install threads have info on how to remove the center console. Once the console is out, remove the side trim pieces around the radio and climate controls. They snap off and will reveal the screws that secure the cilmate controls and stuff. remove the screws, unhook the wiring connector for each component, remove the control pane. Now you have exposed the screws for the radio. Not as complicated as it sounds.

Good luck.

In my 02 there are no screws/bolts, it just all snaps on. I know the center consoles arent that similar, but I'm guessing its the same idea. The center console is 2 pieces: one part for the shifter and one part for the everything above that (Head unit, A/C, TCS, etc)

Pull the shifter part off first, just stick your fingers underneath it near the top and it pops right off. The the other part of the console is a bit trickier, but its not too hard, same way you did the shifter.

Theres no screws, maybe 2 on the head unit, but other than that, no screws. Same goes for the rest of the interior, it all just snaps together.
