Default Re-vamping stock system

I have a 94 stock v6, and I'm looking to upgrade the sound system. I had popped speakers, so I replaced them with alpine 5x7s. I'm thinking about subs and an amp, but I have no idea how to go about it. I got snowed on my speakers, I payed $400 for them total, so I do NOT want to go through that again. Anyone know what I should be looking for? I listen to mostly rock, but some rap, I want good bass.

I would recommend a visit to the Crutchfield website and spec items that fit your car. For subs and amp, the limiting factor will be your budget. Do not hesitate to call their customer support number. They have many knowledgeable people that can help you.

What is your budget?

There are a number of members that can make some good suggestions that will sound great for the money and strangly enough, we don't make any money on the advice we give....

We will definately save you from a situation like paying $400 for two sets of coax speakers.

My budget is around $300, I have to replace my cracked winshield before it spreads anymore.

That is plenty. Here is what I would get

You will need $20 to build a box and $20 for a wiriing kit.

Amp:http://ikesound.com/product-product_id/2840$70

Sub: http://www.edesignaudio.com/edv2/pro...products_id=31$125

That will put you in $50 under budget and in the right box that sub will get plenty loud...

If you want to spend more I can look some more.

Alright, thats a good start, but aren't there different types of wiring kits? Which kind would I need to get? Annnd, box-wise, what size/type would be best?
(I really have no idea what I'm doing here hah.)

The best idea is to build your own box to the specs of the sub.

A wiring kit can be had at wal-mart for like $20

did you recently get the speakers? if so, you should return them if possible, then use that $400 to get some good front speakers and a matching 2ch amp to power them. it would dramatically help out your sound. also, do you have an aftermarket radio, or is it stock?

My HU is stock, the only aftermarket stuff is my speakers. And no, I can't take them back, or I would have haha.
