Default Help me upgrade my sound a bit!

Okay I'm in a bit of a hurry otherwise I'd read through other threads. But what I was looking for is a sub and a h/u, I think. I LOVE the sound of the 460 but I'm wanting a crisper sounding bass but nothing insane and I figured a new h/u too. Any suggestions on subs or is there more that I need? The speakers sound great the way they are but let me on fire with ideas! Also, suggestions on a h/u?

I'm no pro at this stuff. I'm looking at getting the in-dash dvd/mp3/cd touch screen. It looks really clean and flush in the dash rather then having a fold out. http://www.crutchfield.com/S-svioYRL...p;I=077DTS603W
May not be what you're looking for, but it's an idea.

What is your budget? That will play a huge role. I personally have a pioneer head unit and LOVE it, ive heard alpine HUs are decent also. For a sub, i suggest this alot, a JL Audio 10w3, its a mid-level sub that still has alot of punch and can be loud. I convinced my buddy to buy one and he listens to alot of hard rock stuff, its definetly a versatile sub. You probably dont want to go this route but you could also get some 8 or 9" midbasses, they probably wont have the bass you're looking for

I don't really have a budget but I'd like to keep it reasonable. I listen to mostly rap and rock. I've heard that Pioneer, Alpine, and Eclipse are some of the better ones. But I'm mainly looking for a sub more than a headunit. I just don't know what works with a 460 and what doesnt o.O?

I think the mach 460 is a giant bitch to work with, im pretty sure you can just take out the 460 sub and wire in an aftermarket, dont hold me to that though. You sound like me in terms of music, Get a JL 10W3 sub, i have the v2, picked one up for like 145 shipped. then i bought an a1200(JL also) amp for like 160 and make my own box for cost of materials and i couldnt be happier. find out on that 460 wiring deal and i can help more, i cant remember if you can bypass it or not sry

Thanks for the ideas! I remember going to circuit city or something and also telling me what a bitch it is to deal with the 460. Lots of rewiring. Maybe it's best to just get everything done like h/u, amp, sub, etc.

The 460 system in general is a bitch to work with, your going to have to replace pretty much everything(maybe) if you get a new headunit. Heres what happened to me: I bought a Pioneer DEH-6900UB, really nice and all. I go to hook it up, and the bass speakers on the door dont work, but the tweeters and rear speakers work...COOL. So I buy a 4 channel 800 watt profile amp to rewire my speakers....and the 460 speakers cant be rewired to the amp because theres no actual speaker wire and there was no crossover box that connects the tweeter and mid-bass speakers. So I just ended up replacing all my speakers. In your case though, your putting a sub in the trunk so that sub would give you the bass that your lossing from the bass speakers in the front, sort of. Problem is, the tweeters make a really annoying popping noise if theyre turned up too high. Your better off with just a sub first and then replacing your speakers with the head unit later on. It will only run you about 150 more to put in new components in the front and coaxals in the back

460 isn't that bad guys... You just need to know how to do it. I have been running my Eclipse headunit and 3 different amp.woofer combos with the 460 front stage since I bought my stang and am still amazed how easy and still decent sounding for factory it is.

So am I able to add just a subwoofer? I already love the way the speakers sound so if I don't have to replace those that'd be lovely.

EDIT: my friend recommended this to me... http://www.crutchfield.com/S-3OYtlkH...109GTO12BP#Tab
