Default Mach 460 slow death- any suggestions?

Well my Mach system keeps messing up on loading/ejecting and even shuffling CD's and so I'll prob have to get a new head unit, I want to keep the amps and use what it has in the car (mostly stock) and just change out the head unit with one that plays MP3's and stuff, and one that looks good, and clean, budget about $200-400 max. Any suggestions???

I just bought a Pioneer from Crutchfield. It plays MP3's and ipod stuff. I haven't installed it yet but Crutchfield threw in some extra stuff, like a pocket, mounting bracket, radio/CD player removal tool. Also, I had to spend an extra twenty bucks for a harness that they sell. I guess without the harness it's a total pain to intall a new head unit. The wiring diagram for the Mach 460 head unit is five pages long.
Here's what it costed:

I forgot to mention my Mach CD player has a mind of its own. Sometimes it will play CDs and other times it will not. Sounds like we're experiencing the same problem.

Is your unit have the CD player separated from the radio unit? I was just wondering since thats how my friends 2000 GT is, and was wondering if the harness is different from mine.

mine looks like this one

Has anyone had experience with plug and play harness on these using an aftermarket radio?

Yeah. The CD player and Radio are separate. I'm going to install it tomorrow. I'll try to take pics of the install and you can compare the connections on my units to the connections on your single unit. Also, the harness that I purchased said "88-up ford....." so I think it will work on yours. Go to Crutchfileds website and enter in your car's information. All compatible cd players will be listed. Pick one and proceed to check out. Then the site will tell you to buy the harness. I'll let you know how it goes.

Has anyone noticed this problem only happens when it's hot inside the car, when it's cooled down inside it seems to work alright???
