It is only a matter of time before the Crap 460 breaks anyway, or eats your CDs. A new head unit not only gives you WAY more options for adding stuff on later and tuning capability, but more importantly, it gives a MUCH cleaner signal to your amps. If you have installed any other kind of part on your car, you can probably install the whole system yourself. Just take your time and dedicate a weekend to do it. Just and FYI, we usually forget to mention this to people...we usually recommend 6.5" components for the front so you will need to make an adapter ring for the 6.5 to fit in the stock 5x7 opening. No trouble at all...very easy and you can use your old speaker as an outline to trace.
YW. I always forget that part because it is so simple. But I at one point, was baffled on how to get a "round peg" into an "oval opening".It's alearning process
.
Preal has had a very interesting suggestion. He said he has used clipboards (yes the thing you write on) to make the adapter rings. If you think about it, they are very cheap and a lot stronger than plain MDF. I'll let him explain how to trace and cut out the rings, but it is not very hard at all.

It is as easy as tracing the oringinal speakers and marking the holes. Tracing the new speaker. Then you cut out the oval shape and the circle inside it.
The cheap wood looking clipboards at wal mart are made of hdf, and are great for making adapters!

See? Easy as pie. Only thing I was wondering, shouldn't you try and line up one of the mounting holes on the new speaker with the mounting holes on the 5x7 adapter? So that the adapter and speaker are mounted to at least one of the same locations?
