Blown Speaker - Mach 460
I just bought a 1996 GT with mach 460 and the right front speaker is blown (the black one by the window at the top of the door not the one in the bottom of the door). Does anybody know where I can buy just that speaker, not the whole set? And for now can someone tell me how to open it up and disconnect it so I don't have a loud hissing noise?
That speaker is a 4 ohm speaker so it will be easy to replace if you want to upgrade as all aftermarket are 4 ohm. I am not using my old ones if you want them? to disconnect them you will more then likely have to remove your entire door panel. You can pull the grill off but I don't think it gives you access to any wires, the stock connection is just below the door panel.
Push down on the top corner of the tweeter and then push in towards the center of the car and the top should snap off. Now push the bottom down and it should also release. You might be able to remove the speaker and disconnect it that way. What ever you replace it with should have a high pass cross over on it.
