Bump Took Out My 1st Channel
Was driving in the not-so-nice part of Buffalo today, at night, and drove right into a huge piece of missing road, didn't see it till the last second, and it was all the way into the oncoming lane so I couldn't have avoided it anyway.
Upon hitting it, my left Polk comp set stopped working. No noise, no static, nothing. PISSED, I continued my ride home. Checked the amp, took apart my door, and checked everything, everything was tight and connected still.
All 3 other channels on my amp work, my right side speaker, and my two subs all went on without missing a beat.
Is it possible a bump could break whatever makes channel 1 work on my amp? Or could my crossover have took a dump?
If I feel ansy later, ill swap the connections on channels 1 and 2, and see if I get anything on the right, working speakers from channel 1.

A POS Visonik V418XT.
Its never given me any problems though, I still have to switch the cables on the amp, and see if the amp will get anything out of the other set of speakers.

switch the speaker outputs at the amp and see if the problem moves to the other side, this tests the amps outputs. You can also switch the rca's to test the input. Let us know what happens.
Well, went out and woke myself up this morning. Switched around all the connections, turns out channel 2 is the culpirt, I forgot I switched them because they were backwards before. The left speaker set works when hooked up to chan 1, and the right set starts making weird noises when connected to chan 2. Same thing when reversed.
Sooooo I'll be contacting crutchfield and using my warranty. Or if im feeling ansy enough, since im getting a beater this weekend, save up and get a better quality 4 chan amp.

wait now, if the problem switched sides when you switched the rca's, then your speakers and amp are fine and your input to the amp is bad[:-].
If you can now try switching the rca's at the deck. We need to go further up the line to see if it is the cables, or the deck.

Well, upon further investigation, I moved the ground cable to a different bolt on the car, both sides would then come on, but then cut out 3 seconds later. I cleaned off the new spot and reconnected, fired right up.
Moral of the story: check all connections before jumping the gun.
AND DONT DRIVE DOWN TONAWANDA STREET IN BUFFALO.
Thanks ttocs.
