Default blown speakers

hey guys

new to the forum

i recently installed "CDT Audio EF-61FG - CDT Audio EuroFrame 6.5" 2 Way Component Speaker System" into my 98 mustang. my first install, and it worked great... for a while. like the title says i blew em and yeah... i dont really have much money to replace em, and in another freak accident, prior to me installing them my dog ate the tweeters. so right now all i have is two 6 pound magnetic paper weights and shreds of a tweeter, so im looking for a set of either 6.5" + 6x9" or, 6.5" + tweeters, i kinda want the former more than the latter because the stock mustang 6x9s are the bullocks. (im not british, but had to use the saying). any suggestions? im looking to spend like 200.
to be honest, i dont have a job, so this is gunna be for christmas (i was gunna get a MIDI keyboard, but i guess i have to get my priorities straight, and seeing how ill be in my car more than making music, i think its a better buy)

to power it i have a 520 watt 4-channel amp. so like 105 rms is the ideal.

any input is good input

*** I think I have over 350 to spend. But that's all my Christmas money, so I don't know.

***^2 - what about these? link

How on earth did you blow those speakers? I'm sending 200-300 watts rms with no problems. You must have either been abusing them like crazy! What amp are you using?

Why do you want all that extra garbage with the upstage and rear fill, just get yourself another component set and get it installed correctly.

uhh, a jbl gto 75.4 II

my hu wasn't turned up much, only around 40/62.
i honestly have no clue how i blew them. i really wasn't abusing them. though prior to this they were hooked up to my stock hu with the stock cables, if that bares any relevance?

i honestly don't know

but my back 6x9's are from the "premium stock" system... and they're pretty crap.

You don't need rear speakers.

Do you already have a sub?

Car audio competitors will never use full range rear fill. At most, they would use the mids from a comp set and low pass them at around 500 to 1000 hz.

Would you go to a concert and turn around to listen from behind you?

I'd get another set of comps, set the gains properly on the amp, and be good to go!

You will have a very hard time beating CDT for the money. I'd get the ES-610's that are $300 right now.

true but im kinda just going for good sound.
i know CDT are good, i had them for like a week or two xd
is there any other brand i should look into? or just get those es series woofers+tweet?

do you think my gain was just set to high? i mean, that odesnt really explain the rear speaker going out.
and even so, im gunna need a replacement for the bad 6x9 in the back. or should i just take it out completely?

I would take out the rears completely or go buy some cheapies at wal-mart and run them at a very low gain setting.

In order to get the most out of your front comps, I would bridge the 4 channel and properly set the gains.

I gutted my rears and i couldn't be happier. Though with my new eD subs and it sounds like i have no mid bass, but i can already hear the improvement in the sound stage. Can't wait to upgrade my comps. Want to buy me those ES's?

some people like rear fill and if you do then run em.......

the rear speakers are 5 x 7 if I am not mistaken, not 6 x 9.
