Default trunk rattle help?

hey guys i got an 89 mustang. i dont have my sub yet but i know the hatch is going to rattle. i know about dynamat and fatmat and all the sound deadeners but how do i stop the actual hatch itself from vibrating? i had a friend powerbass 15 in there off my audiobahn amp, and it sounded horrible, not only because the sub was blown which he still doesnt think it is. but from outside even the heat shields on the cats were vibrating. im not worried about that because i have an off road h pipe that im about to install but the hatch is horrible. what have you guys done to your mustangs to help with the vibrating?

you need to isolate each rattle and then attack them. Play something that makes it rattle and then go outside and see if you can make the noise less by pushing on different panels and in different places. Sometimes you can tighten a couple of screws, add a little foam here and there and you are done. Depends on the car and the history of the car....

Also check out e-dead on amazon.

Sound deadening, obviously the biggest thing.

I have used those rubber spacer/gasket ring things, not exactly sure what they are supposed to be used for but they are cheap at hardware stores, I used those in my Bonneville on the plastic screw clip things that held the tail-lights in place, also doubled them up and used them where your license plate mounts.

You'll be surprised how much sound deadening will help, if you were wondering some other brands/materials eD has their paint on stuff which is very easy to apply, no pre-prep you have to do to it (some products ask you to pre heat it) and you waste less, you can apply it as thick or as thin as you want in certain places.

I did one layer of eDead V1se to nearly my entire trunk and back seat and it did a great job of quieting the rear end. It isn't pin drop quiet, but definitely makes it easier to have a conversation, I used to almost yell to talk to people in my car! Even with the top down it helped. I am eager to see how it is when i finish it...

I'll try that and see how it goes. certain things i dont think i will be able to stop though like the tail lights. i have no idea how to stop that. I'll take some more time with it to see what i can do, i was just seeing if you guys had any certain things you did that made a big difference

sure you can stop the taillights from vibrating. just apply the eDead or whatever you get to the backs and as far out as you can without seeing it. there's always a way. It does take a great deal of time though. I wasn't even spot checking mine, just doing it all, and i think it took me a good 6 hours to do one layer, cutting around objects, trying not to waste, testing fitment, etc.

ok, well ill try that and see how it goes, if anything it will make it better then i can go from there. but now my trunk is having problems closing the rubber piece wore through so i cut it off and tried to replace it with a small chunk of fuel tubing which is a lot softer but i needed something. that didnt work either. do they make this piece or do i have to make something? i have to slam my trunk for like 15 minutes straight for it to close. its a pain and i dont understand why its doing it i aligned the hatch so that the latch was right over the bar and it still doesnt work right. has anyone else had this problem and if so how did you fix it.
