Default Aftermarket CD player problem

A few years ago, I had a kenwood CD player - installed myself - that one night I was driving along and the sound cut out.

Couldnt figure it out. Hooked up a different radio, worked fine.

What would cause this? Bad wiring harness? It would cost me about $70 to get it fixed, $110 new (ebay) for same radio. The face still lights up and you can control all functions - but no sound comes out. Is this a harness issue, or somethign internal?

I can get a harness for like $10.

Thanks.
Dave

it still had power but no sound? The amps will turn off if the speaker becomes grounded. Is it possible that a speaker connection had become shorted behind there and you fixed it when you installed the new one?

Yes, it still had power but no sound.

I think it might be possible that the connection became shorted, and when I put in the 2nd radio (factory stereo, and removed amp) the setup was fine.

Im not sure thats what happened though. Ive been installing my own stuff for over 10 years now, and I dont cut corners with the installs - this has never happened to me. I was just driving down the paved road, and the sound cut out. wierd.

Maybe I will just try to install this radio again in my new truck and see what happens.
