made by phoenix gold and they have been making since the time when they were making good stuff. It is a single band parametric eq if that helps... to make it simple it allows you to choose a frequency(bass freq between 20hz-120hz) and then adjust the Q(quality) of the cross-over(this will allow more or less of the frequency's around the one that you have chosen) and then adjust the volume of that selected band of frequency's. So say you adjust the frequency dial to 50 hz, and then adjust the Q dial to a low Q(this means it will let more of these notes around 50hz(say from 30hz-70hz)), and then finally you can adjust the volume of the range of notes(30-70hz) that you allowed to go through do give you a boatload of bass at the note you want it. It is a bassheads tweekers dream. I have installed more then a few and never heard a basshead complain about it.

do you know what a properly built ACTUAL bandpass box does or looks like? I dont think so. You are looking for one of those pre-fabbed partical board POS's with a couple subs behind a piece of plexiglass right?

What is your budget?
I am going to assume loud boomy bass is all you are looking for.
So a good sub in a decently built ported enclosure would be about perfect for what it seems like you are trying to acheive.

With that said; I have a guy you should contact about building you a GOOD enclosure for a good price. I personaly am no woodworker, so I have him build all of mine and have not had a complaint yet, not from myself nor anyone I have installed for. Go to www.caraudioforum.com and find the user named mobileman. Let him know that Dustin from Maine referred you to him and he will treat you like a kink. Promise.

Let him know you are looking for a good ported enclosure for--insert whatever subs you chose here--

My personal recomendation for the best bang for the buck on getting loud, being a quality built sub, and not worrying too much about SQ is Kicker. Their L5 solobaric subs are not too pricey and can get plenty loud.
Also, what amp are you pushing them with? or what is the budget for the whole shebang?

I can make Xplods and Audiobahns very very loud.
the L5 is meh in the lasting department. Also, its a fact that conicular and spherical provides more excursion than Square(solo for the whiners)

the word is conical not conicular. and to say the shape has anything to do with the amount of excursion is kind of wrong... kind of a whole buncha wrong. sure "you" can make sony subs or audiogarbage subs get loud... but i was thinking of a decent quality sub that will last him a little while and not sound like a complete wet fart while getting loud.

First bolded:
I cant beleive you. I wont touch the subject of shape vs excursion. Theres also accuracy and other things. I wont hurt you too bad.

Second bolded:
THERE IS TREMENDOUS WEAR ON THE BUTYL/rubber/foam that is between the sub and case compared to spherical woofers!

"THERE IS TREMENDOUS WEAR ON THE BUTYL/rubber/foam that is between the sub and case compared to spherical woofers!"

that, my friend, i will never ever ever ever argue. that is 100% obvious, even if you know NOTHING about subs. clearly having 90 degree stress points is going to wear on the surrounds more than having a circular cone.
at any rate, im not here to argue with anyone anyway. i dont think i was in the wrong one but saying that solobarics are peaky easy-to-be-loud subs with crap sound quality. and they arent built shoddy. sure the surround might take on more stress, but kicker can build their stuff with a little quality. unlike some of those garbage brands like sony xplod, audiobahn, volfenhag etc.

with my pretty ***** deep audio embargos, Volflenhags generally are better bangs for the bucks than any kicker product(except MAYBE the l7s).
I would endorse kicker if they lowered their prices from huge profit to profit.

I want to know what your syzzztum consists of injected. If you don't even have a capacitor, or a fold out monitor, I think your suggestions should get some revising, asap.

man I am sorry but I gotta say that this has to be the funniestthing I have heard on here.... please tell me you are jokin as I do not have either one of those, I would hate to loose my credibility on here[:-]

I have personally never been big on kicker imo. They can get loud as hell but the subs need alot of power to do it.

hahaha yep, i got like 5 monitors and 6 capacitors. like 40 15 inch xplod subs too.
i REALY hope that was a joke with the monitor and cap joke...

And in my Vert My system consists of a gutted dash, all speakers/amps removed, longtubes, catless X, flowmasters and dumps. that is my "sound system". Just because I used to have a couple decent set up systems, and have set up many of them, doesnt mean my car has one lol.

BUT ANYWHO. i think the random bashing and arguing has come to an end, which is good. I just cant get over the monitor and cap joke. assuming it was a joke.... praying it was a joke...
