Default Rear Speakers?

I'm replacing the front speakers and door subs in my 06 coupe and putting in a 3 way setup, along with putting a 12" sub in the trunk. My question is what should I do with the rear speakers? Replace them with coaxials or not use them at all? Would it be possible to put 2 way 6.5" components back there or would that be too much?

I'm just curious as to what you guys have done..

Thanks!

Supposedly from an SQ standpoint you don't want rear sound. You want the staging to be in front of you as if you were listening live to a band at a concert (the old trusty example). If you would like to put speakers in the back, have them be some sort of low passed speakers playing nothing above 500Hz (i think that's about where you want it). I pulled my rears out and it sounds great.

Rear fill should be low passed around 400hz if you want them.

I don't use rear fill in my cars and most other knowledgeable people about car audio don't. It is all about your personal preference.

you guys I completely disagree, lowpass? I thought most systems if they use a rear fill for SQ they like to use a bandpass(it allows a band of freq's through) but still allows the front to be the main sound source.

The x-overs on my diamond 3 ways has this option that I am going to try out hopefully soon.......

Sorry for my missspeaking ttocs.

Bandpass is the best solution for rear fill. IMO anywhere from 50-100hz up to 400-800hz is an appropriate signal for rear speakers.

The biggest no-no in my opinion is to put tweets in the back.

That is an awesome feature of the diamond crossovers!

I was wondering as I am still kicking and fighting the intire way down into this whole no-rear-fill area........ I am curious how it works as well and can't wait to hear them.

So is the consensus pretty much that, IF you decide to run with "rear fill" that it would be best to run those speakers off of the head unit as opposed to an amp?

Again, the idea of having no rear fill works great for competition grade systems but for every day people the majority of people(except on here) enjoy rear fill so if you like it then I would recommend trying to match the rear speakers to the front as well as with simlar power levels as the front but you can get away with runnin them off of the deck. If you do not like that sound you can always add an amp later.
