Default speaker suggestions

I recently purchased an alpine iva d300 headunit. I guess i need to buy a seperate accesory to manage crossovers from the headunit. I also have a 11ov.2 hooked up to a nine.2 amp feeding it 400 watts. Basically, the stock mach 460 speakers sound like garbage when you turn the volume up at all. Im looking for some suggestions for speakers. I want them to get loud but still sound clean. Also the sub doesnt get very loud its tighter. I have it in a .57 cuft box(ideal for the sub). The bigger the box the louder it would be right, id just be sacrificing sound quality. What do you guys suggest? try to keep it under $700. I was thinking of maybe getting a nine.1 to run the sub and using the nine.2 for speakers. Open to anything, Thanks.

did you ever remove the x-overs? Even new speakers will sound bad with those in place.

First, the bigger the box the worse the sub sounds usually. Not as much bass and the responce becomes horrible if its too big. Ported boxes are louder but dont have as clean of bass as seal boxes but sealed boxes arent as loud.
Second, Alpine Type-R or Type-X speakers are good, Polk DB series, or the Kicker speakers. The Type X are probably the best and the Polk are good with good bass and dont distort when cranked up. The Kickers are pretty loud however, but they start to distort when it gets turned up

I have a 93 notch and I have infinity's in the dash and doors and Polk audio in the rear deck. I have a clarion head unit and it sounds great. my recomendation is infinity or polk if you are not going to have a sub. Alpine tends to have a little more bass to its speakers. As for subs, the box makes all the difference. it depends what you like to listen to. If you are into having clarity and depending on what you like to listen to lets say rock for an example, a smaller sealed box is ideal. look at the manufacture's specs to see what they have fo recomended interior volume. I like to listen to every kind of music, but I do also like very deep bass. I have a Kicker S12L5 and it sounds awsome. Its in a sealed 1.2 Cu. Ft. box which makes it hit hard as hell and gets the deep bass.
