got a car audio job
Well it might not seem like much but, I am having a interview tomarrow at best buy for car audio. I know the basics of it all. But is there anything that you guys think I should try to look up on. I dont want to be one of the guys thats saying ummm its all about watts the more the better. Just any tips or hints would be nice.
Thanks Matt

If you have a portfolio (Pictures of previous installs you've done) be sure to bring it in. If you by any chance have any letters, or notes from people thanking you for a job well done, bring those in as well. If you feel confident, ask the interviewer (nicely) to put you to the test right there and then. Be ready for idiotic questions like "How would you be an asset to our company?" "What are 3 things you don't like about yourself?". Don't slang. Don't say "like" (I did this install, and the dude was like "Hey that's ballin'"). Shave, trim your nails, etc etc... Oh, and mention you enjoy working with people very much.
install or sales? If the test is the same as it was 10+ yrs ago when I was there they will ask you about some general questions such as what is the balence and fading for, ect. it is not hard and they will hire most brain dead monkeys to work there(I speak from experience) so don't let it scare ya. The good point is it is a big company that has alot of benifits, the bad point is that it is a big company and they do not care about any 1 employee as they can and will happily replace you with another brain dead monkey. I left worst lie over a decade ago and I have kept to my promise to not support that **** yellow price tag and never buy anything from them ever again after the way they treated me and my friends.......................
I would quit installing and work the register and sweep the floors, scrub toiletsat circuit city or waffle house before I would evergo tothem again........
good luck at the interview, and then truely good luck if you get the job as you will need it....
There was a guy with something about UK in his signon that is on here that is an installer there.

You don't need to know anything to be honest. They teach you everything you need to know which is, sell anything you can to anyone. Send everyone out the door with atleast one thing. Product knowledge, don't need that. Basic wiring configurations, don't need that. Decent product, don't need that.
Get a good pitch to sellPSP's and they will love you.

I had a friend that went to best buy to pay them to install a 4 guage amp kit split to 8 guage with a d block at the rear to power to amps. They went ahead and installed an additional 10 guage wiring kit instead of replaceing his old 8 guage with a 4 guage and caused a ton of inductive interference on his mids/highs.
But then again, thats what happens when a trained monkey that only knows how to follow instructions he sees in a book installs a stereo.
Good luck with your job, but if you value yourself at all as an installer after you gain some experience, leave as quickly as possible.

well i would only be doing sales as of now. but i dont want to do any install work there. If i wanted to go that route i would probably do that for a while then try to go to a local place and get one there.
I have no idea yet. Iv had 2 interviews now. This last one the lady said that you have to go through 3 to get hired and the last one is with the general manager. I think this one went really well the lady seemed to like me alot. She told me the only thing she needed to check was my hours to see how they fit, and then they would give me a call.
working there was great motivation to me to go back to school and do something with my life. It also let me appreciate when I got a good job later. Every once and a while when I start to complain too much I just remember life there...........
good luck, you can use it either way.
