Default Rockford Fosgate P2 or P3??

Hey guys, you guys been helping me out a lot lately with all this car audio stuff.

After doing some research i figured the stats of my amp
[ul][*]Class D Monoblock Amplifier[*]Maximum Output Power: 1000 watts[*]RMS Power @ 4 ohms: 300 watts x 1[*]RMS Power @ 2 ohms: 500 watts x 1[*]2 ohm stable[*]Frequency Response: 5 Hz-200 Hz[*]Low-Pass Filter: 50 Hz-200 Hz, 24 dB/Octave[*]Variable Input Sensitivity: 200 mV - 5 V[*]Line Output Terminals for Extension[*]Infrasonic Filter: 15 Hz, 25 Hz, 18 dB/Octave[*]Bass Boost: 0-18 dB[*]Dimensions: 11-1/4" L x 2-1/2" H x 12-1/2" W[/ul]so to maximuize my amp i think the rockford fosgate will best the bet

you guys told me to find one with 2 ohm so here is the p3 and the p2

so im buy either one of these...which would be my best bet and what would sound the best?
btw i have this enclourse

also if i get one of thse subs how would i wire it so its 2 ohm and working at its peak?

I am assuming you are only using one sub by the sound of your post?

you need a 2 ohm net load across one channel to maximize that amps output. while both of those subs are 2 ohm, they are a DUAL VOICE COIL 2 ohm which means that instead of one motor inside of that speaker, there are two small ones that have a resistance of 2 ohms each. If you were to wire those in parallel as most people do, your amp will see a 1 ohm load and probably shut off. IF you wire them in series, you will have an 4 ohm load and while it is safe for your amp it will cut the power output in half. IF you are going to run a single sub, you want a DVC 4 ohm speaker which will allow you to select between the 2 ohm you want, or the 8 ohm you don't.

I have been installing for over 10 yrs and never paid any attention to a speakers power rating, it is its least important number to be honest.... I am sure if I looked at the specs I am overpowering my hex 3 ways but they never sounded better at low volume or at full volume. Hook the sub up to the amp and then keep the signal clean and unclipped/undistorted and you will be fine.

Think of you amp as the motor and the speaker as your car. Will your car run ok with a 4 cylinder in it? Well of course it will but you mightsomething if you have to keep flooring it to try and keep up with the v-8's right? Now you can shoe-horn a big block under the hood(in our case a bigger amp) but you just have to control it to keep it out of the wall. It will be easier to go faster(louder in our case) with the big motor and that is why people try to put as big of one as they can.

With any stereo you are listening to when the signal starts to distort, or clip, you are doing damage. Clipping occures sooner with a lower powered amp, so as long as you control the power more is better.......
