Default port length?

i am building the ported box, but with a tubular port of PVC rather than a slot. just one quick question. will the lenght of the port be measured totally by the length of the pipe or the length not including the area covered by the box wall? its a .75 inch difference and can make a difference tuning the box. so can anyone help me out?

It is measuredby the total lengh of the port. You could have it stick out of the box and it makes no differnce as long as your internal volume and port specs stay the same.

no it wont. absolutely no good. from expierience. just make a smaller box it will do the same amount of SQ gain. it wont work. ive heard of dynamatting the inside of boxs.. you could try that, ive never done it

Polyfil will not increase the SQ.

Smaller Ported Box will also not increase SQ.

In order to increase SQ on a ported box, design the port to have a tuning frequency around 30-32 hz. That will sound much better then something tuned between 35 and 40 becuase it will be much less "peaky"
