Help a Vert out
OK, so im getting a styling bar within a week or so, and am gonna have the top down proble every day now. the problem is, as some of you know.. its hard to hear bass with the top down.
so my plan.....
get some 6 1/2" inch kick panel mounted subs, and ditch the subs in the trunk. What subs should i get, of course i want the best sound i can get. i already have component speakers so the sound is good, just need some bass to help it out a lil.

yes i have 2 10 inch subs, with cistom fiberglassed boxes. they are nice and hit good with the top up.. but with the top down and at 80mph(i have 410s) you cant hear the bass at all
I just sold my 2 10's and i could hear them with the top down and they were sealed. I had removed the back panel though.
Of course, i'm sure you don't want to do that.
I f you are looking for bass in the front and you are going to go kicks, i would look into seeing if you could fit some 7kv.2's in there from eD. otherwise, i would say forget it and just get a very nice front stage, some sort of comps.

removing the subs and adding 6.5's will not help your problem. Adding a couple of 15's and 2k watts and you might start to help it but the only way you will feel the bass with the top down at speed with bass shakers and its funny that they need an amp just like a sub.
You couldfill the baskseatPA speakers with a high power amp it would not help...

yes because im really gonna g buy all that...NOT
all i want is to be able to hear bass a little better... i can feel it just fine with the top up.
ur going 80mph at that speed who the hell cares about bass u better be worried about the road.
We're not trying to be rude man, it just simply is very difficult to have audible bass when your traveling down the highway with your top down.
Adding a pair of 10" in your door panels probably wouldn't help much.
All of your wind noise you hear is all low hz, it's masking all the sound that your subwoofers are producing.
Road noise in a convertible is probably producing dB levels of around 100 dB give or take.
What youre basically trying to do is listen to an iPod at a rock concert. It's tough shy of doing a pretty large size bass setup in your trunk.
I could hear my two eD 11Ov.2's sealed in my car with the top down. barely. With it FULL WANGIN'. And i run a full bassani exhaust.
Get a decent component set and/and or go ported with some decent subs. Also, try pulling out the backpanel. Kickpanels just arent worth it in our tight quarters.
