Default Audio upgrade

Hey guys I need some advice on a audio system upgrade in my 93 GT. The problem is I cant really hear my radio in my car because the supercharger makes to much noise. I put a sony head unit in it back in 97 that I got off a friend. So i think the head unit is from around 93-95. Also I replaced the speakers at the same time but dont remember with what. They were the same size as stock and Im pretty sure they were 100 watt and were pretty good at the time. The head unit puts out 4X20 watts(I guess thats what it means anyway) but the CD player is starting to go bad so I want to replace it. Will putting in a new head unit that puts out more power make it so I can hear it? If so what is a good cheap head unit with CD that puts out good power. Im not a audiophile or whatever its called so Im not looking to spend alot of money I just want an easy way to get alittle more volume out of it. Thanks

Well i found a sony CD for 99$ and best buy will install it for free. Its a 4X52 with 17 RMS. What do you guys think of sony head units? The one in it now is a sony and worked well for over 10 years so i figured ten years newer with more power might be what I need. Like I said Im not looking for the best just better for cheap. Any thoughts?

I cannot stand sony head units. If it were me and I was looking to buy a cheap/reliable CD player i would just pick up a Pioneer.

My stereo is a cheap 80 watt per channel but it plays MP3s. Just couple it with a good kenwoord 500 watt app n 2 10" sony speakers..and its an awesome setup. The stereo doesnt need a lot of juice..just loots of features.. you can get a significant amount of watts by adding a reasonable amp to the setup...

Last year I was shopping around for a CD/MP3 deck and without focusing on any brand I just wanted good bang for the buck.. I decided to get a JVC KD-G800 deck and it has performed great. 4x50watt internal amplifiler, plus THREE pairs of line outs (front, rear, sub) and internal crossover network. Came with a nice small remote and the faceplate is detachable and motorized so when you turn it on it will tilt to an angle of your choosing for good visibility. The MP3 player supports CD-text which is great considering I can get almost 180 MP3 songs on a single disk!

Hey check out this website, they have killer deals on head units. I bought 2 Sony 50x4W's for around $130 two and a half yrs. ago. 1 for my boat and one for my old Nissan.

Thanks for the help guys. I did not read your post about sony head units b4 I bought one today. There is a sound track store going out of biz here and i got a sony 4X50 for 79$. It took about 20 minutes for me to put it in and its a huge improvement over the old sony 4X20. I can hear it now atleast. Thanks again
