Default sub ??

in normal terms whats the difference between single and dual voice coil and what about ohms 2,4,8 what all does this mean? just a bunch of jibberous?

The ohms is the impedance. Impedance is basically the resistance of the speaker. Max power will be delivcered when the impedances match. (the sub and amp match). Lower the matching impedance the more power. Connecting 2 equal ohm subs in series will double the impedance, connecting in parallel when cut the impedance in half.

No, no certainly not. Ohms is a measurement of resistance...

Well here, I will over repeat myself and probably confuse the hell out of you and myself

Tab 8- Ohm (Tab 12-Ohms Law)

The biggest thing when choosing between single SVC and dual DVC's is your wiring options, nowadays, atleast in my eyes and what i see on the market the majority is now DVC. Most people will want to run at a lower (usually 1 ohm) ohm number because it is generally louder, with DVC subwoofers this is much easier to achieve when you have say 2 subwoofers.

ok can i add a question in here that's never been answered for me?
wiring in parallel- (lets say you have two speakers) you have the speakers wired together in the box, and there is one speaker wire running from the amp to the box itself
is that what it is or tell me what it really is plz.

I remember it this way, when you wire in parallel think P for Power, or more power cause you cut the speakers ohms in half (or impedence actually)

Here is what parallel looks like on a pair of woofers

Your speakers can be wired together in the box in series as well. The picture Seight provided has all the info you need.

thanx seight, so is it safe to say that i could always wire my speakers in parallel????
and to cassimus, i'm not a expert but i think mono's are best for subs ,im not saying that just because i use one neither, i've had experience with a 2channel Precision Power Amp(i know yall know about those lol) and i just like the way that mono-block jl amp i have throws the power to my subss alot more...but im sure someone will clear it up

it is not "always" safe to do anything, or nothing.... You can wire speakers in parallel as long as the amps lowest impedence rating is not broken. So if your amp is only rated at 4 ohms mono, and you try to put two 4 ohm speakers in parallel, the amp will see a 2 ohm load and that is bad.

DVC speakers only add wiring options to allow you to match your amp better. They will not play any louder or softer as long as they are connected to the correct amp to power them. When powering a DVC speaker you need to power both coils on the speaker so you will normally wire them in series or parallel. If you only use one coil you will burn out that coil.

aahaaaaa i finally get it...so thatsss why my DHD sub voice coils burnt out ahaahahahaa. i had it wired parallel and my amp's damping factor is only >250 @ 2 ohm/50Hz and that sub could take 1000 watts
thanks alot
and excuse the excessive aahhhaaaaha's i just woke up and still feeling the liqour from last nite
