Default Car audio shops

What are some good car audio shops near Torrance, CA? I'm looking to install new speakers and an amp once I do some more research on which to get. I'm also looking into get a new alarm. The only shop I've been to near my house wanted to charge 600 for the Viper 5900 with install. Seemed high or was that price reasonable?

the 5900 is a great alarm and to get it with all of its options installed is alot of work, that is not a bad price. You can save alot of cash if you nix the 2-way remote but of course it is a neat option. An alarm requires a good/great install in order to work correctly as well as to be properly hidden to keep it secure. Ask your shop how they make their connections, solder is prefered, crimp is acceptable and T-taps and a NO-NO. Do they take the time to hide the module and siren or do they just want to get he car out asap? Do they do alot of alarms and do they work on alot of mustangs? A great alarm with a bad install in the best case will leave the car unsecure, in the worst case the car will not work and could leave you stranded on the side of the road. A good shop should not have to worry about future problems but should do everything they can to help youif something goes wrong.

Which shop did you go to? I'll check and see if I know someone near that area.

Seems high to me.... If you are willing to drive to Palm Springs area, then I would suggest Precision audio. I used to work there and they are a great shop. Ask for Jeff, he is the owner

Thanks for the replies. The shop I went to was Bob's Car Audio off of Hawthorne blvd. and 190th st in Torrance, CA. I'll have to find out more about how the alarm is installed their. They did mention they could add a second siren but that would be extra.

I am an installer that became an installer because I worked with installers from Best Buy to Circuit City to Fry'sand I have to say that I have seen some pretty bad installs from all three companies because no one regulates them. The only thing these companies managers know about car audio is where it is in theirstore and if you had a complained about the car audio dept to them, they could care less. I just bought my 06 mustang gt and installed the same alarm and am currently adding the alpine ivad310, pxah510, and all the other things I got out of my f150. This alarm is not tricky to install exceptfor the factyou need a transponder and you need both keys to program the remote start. When I used to install these alarms professionally, I would take all day longto do it because the last thing I need is for a customer to come back complaining. I would tape all the wires including the valetbutton because when a thief looks under the dash, if they wanted to find your alarm, all they do is follow this wire or the ledback to the alarm brain. But ifall the wires are tapedjust like the OEM wires are, and if ranin crazy directions, most thieves give up and leave.
The one thing I can give you advise on is to make sure you get a lifetime warrantyon the alarm. That's one of the cool things about BestBuy and Circuit. The other is making sure the people that install the alarm are MECPcertified. That way you're also protectedby Directed. I could go on and on, but I see I already have. Sorry
