Default Deck Install Gone Wrong 2.0

So, I've asked most of these questions before, but never really bothered to follow up on any of the suggestions given. This time however, I plan on putting in the effort and seeing it through. Also, I have very little knowledge ofthese electrical matters and will answer questions as best I can, but please bear with me.

My problems:

Recently had a new CD deck installed in my 1994 Mustang GT (with the Mach 460 system). After the install I get no bass but the mids and tweeters are fine. The previous deck was not stock either, and had been wired incorrectly. The installer wired the new deck the same as the old one andhebelieved that when he then tested the new deck it blew thelow range/bass amp.He then rewired the deckand whenI showed the installer the information I got from ttocs cardomain page he said he had reinstalled it as outlined.

Is the installer correct that it is the amp that is the problem?

Also, after the above install I get very poor radio reception. All that can be heard is static and with the volume cranked up you can faintly hear the radio in the background. I'm not sure if the problems are related or not. Any recommendations as to how to fix this?

Thanks in advance.

it sounds as though your "installer" forgot to plug in you antenna when he put it back in, and made a classic error when he followed the previous installation and ASSuMEd that it was done correctly. When he thought he blew the bass amp it was because it made a loud popping noise when you turned the deck on? That is because of the 6v/12v turn on difference which is covered in the forum sticky. The turn on pop does not hurt anything.

Who is your installer, what is his experience?

Ok, read the sticky about the 6v/12v, understood it in a very general sort of way. The previous deck did make a loud turn on pop as you describe, but the new one does not so I don't think installing a regulator will help me get my bass back, or would it?

I had two guys working on the install for my car. The first guy was some young guy who seemed to know what he was doing alright, I dont know for sure though. Then becauseeverything went so wrong my install was handled by the head installer who I was told has been doing this kind of work for a long time. I can't vouch for him personally but the shop is reputable and he seems to have a lot of experience.

Do you agree that it could be a blown amp or do you think it is something else?

I thing they didn't connect the blue/white remote turn on to the blue amp turn on. pull the deck and look to see if it goes to the blue, or blue/white...... If you look at the wires on the factory hrns that your deck is wired into you can read what each wireis, it is written on each wire.

Ok, time to ressurect this bad boy. So I finally took the deck out and checked out the wiring. The blue/white wire does connect to the blue wire so thats out.Plus I foundan unconnected orange/white wire, the antenna wire maybe? Was theinstaller right, did my amp really blow?

I took pictures, they're crappy but I'll post them anyway.

This is the blue/white going to the blue:

Generally the illumiation wire is orange with a white stripe.

If you have taken the deck out, follow ttocs's link to his cardomain page and follow his tutorial from scratch.

Wow, ummm I just realized that I do not have the factorywiring harness, its been cut out. All the wires running from my deck have been attached to the other wires with electrical tape.

Look at this picture:
