deck turning on and off when driving.
I have a Kenwood KDC-319 deck. I got it used from a friend. it works great but when im driving sometimes it turns off then back on right away. it usually happens when i hit the breaks, take a turn, or go over a bump. although it doesn't really matter how hard the turn is or how hard i hit the breaks. i can take a turn going 5mph and it willsay code off on the deck then go back on half a second later. on the other hand i can take a turn at 40mph and it will stay on just fine. i don't know what is causing this. the only thing i could think of was when i put it in i didn't screw the rear support bracket to the new deck. (the stock deck had it screwed in) but the kit didn't come with a screw and it doesn't seem to move at all how it is. i have taken it apart many times to check the wires. they are all crimped and taped togeather. any ideas?
it sounds like a bad connection to me. Pull the deck out again and power it up and then start to tug, pull, and work the wires until it does it again...
If all of that still looks good then start simple and check the power connections and double check the ground. If still nothing you might try grounding it to the chassis rather then to the hrns.

is it a removable face? Try jiggling(technical term) the face and see if you can make it turn off.
if that doesn't work then It is either bad power on the input, or you have a bad point inside the deck. You can test if it is the deck with a series of technical taps. Take it out again and turn it on. next start to tap on the deck with a finger, lightly at first. increase the fource with each tap and then do two fingers and once again increase the force. When you can't hit, I mean tap it any harder with your finger, then use a knuckle once again starting soft and increasing the fource of each hit, umI mean tap. when you can't hit it any harder with one finger then start using your entire fist once again lightly at first and this time if you want increase the fource until hit, I mean TAP it so hard that you start to bleed I find it a great stress reliever as well as a good reason to go buy a new deck.

Does the Deck turn off completly or does thelights stay on and you lose sound?
Because if the deck does lose power and you just dont get audio you can have a blown speaker or a speaker grounding out.

the whole thing turns off. it is a removable face plate so ill try doing that stuff to it. if all else fails ill spend 100 bucks and buy something else. im sick of messing with that deck. nothing but trouble.
i may have fixed it. i was doing what ttocs said and I noticed when i flipped the face down to load a cd the deck was still on but when i took the face off it said code off. There is a little pin behind the deck that needs to be pushed in or the deck will turn off. i put some tape over that so maybe it will work now.
I would be concerned that it could still be the wiring, and buying a new deck may still have the same problem. If you have a volt meter or test light I would check for voltage and ground at the deck hrns.
my only other concern is if you did replace it, I would not go with an entry level sony deck.
