Default Need Help Making a Sub Box! Please Help!!!!

Alright so I bought 2 12" MTX subs and I am trying to fit them in my trunk without relocating the factory amps from the mach system. I tried to use my old box, but the new subs dont fit, so I am making my own custom box. My first question is will it really make a difference whether I use 1/2" MDF or 3/4" MDF? Second, what will be affected by changing the amount of space between the bottom of the sub and the box? Thanks

yes it will make a difference with 2 12s in a 1/2 thick box. You need to use 3/4" mdf, not particle board. You are going to have a hard time getting that box in there with the factory enclosure removed and a really really hard time with it in place. The only advise I can give is that you will probably need to build two boxes, one per sub and then load them in the trunk.

I have no idea what you mean by putting the sub on the bottom of the box unless you mean a down firing box where the sub faces the floor and then yes, that will also matter.

I just spoke with the mtx tech support...looks like im going back to home depot for the 3/4". I just figured out how im going to make my box sono worries.

One other question, I took out the amp rack to find that the speakers were in there as well. Relocating the amps wont be a problem, but if I'm getting rid of that big plastic rack, what do I do about the speakers?? do I have to make a custom board or something to hold them up there? sorry if Im not making sense lol

mount the speaker from up top. take out the carpet on the rear deck and there is a 6x8 hole there where you can screw in the speaker form up top.

It suck bc you are now going to have to do what you said you didnt want to do with the factory amps.
