Another newb audio question.
So since my last annoying post a buddy of mine cranked up my radio beyond its limits and blew my left tweeter speaker in my car. I'm going to buy an OEM replacement, as well as an amp.
My question is what kind of wattage should I go for? I'm not building anything else on this system, just want it stock quality. I know people say the 460 sucks, but it's all I need. Would a 200 watt amp do the job or something bigger? I believe a specific model I found is 50x4 at 2 ohms and 35x4 at 4 ohms. I just want something that's going to equal the power the stereo originally had.
I already have a KDCX92 Kenwood deck which makes 50Wx4.
Please help, guys!
edit: for anyone who doesn't already know my situation, I bought my car without the factory Mach 460 amps in the trunk, the entire enclosure being gone.

it is a 2.5", 4 ohm speaker. A speaker that small has no reason to have more then 50 watts going to it. If you replaced your deck the reason it blew is because it is probably running full range. You can use capacitors as high pass filters to take the bass out.
I just pulled out my buddy's full mach 460 system if you want I could give him a call about selling it. Is the car wired for the mach system?
Bc Im kinda of confused on what you wanting to do. Buy a oem deck and then put an amp on that? Why not just keep the kenwood deck buy somenew speakers (5x7)and be done. I mean it will be cheaper just to do that than buying a oem deck and a 4ch amp. You can get some decent 5x7 speakers for less then $200 and have it sound ok well better then factory. You could still do a 4 ch. amp to get some more out of the new speakers.

I've got the old deck still. As far as I know the amps had to be bypassed to install the Kenwood deck. I'm trying to work with the Kenwood deck like i've got now and make it sound back to at least factory where I can have some actual bass and mids and be able to crank it up.
What speakers would I have to replace?

bump.
I have no one else to turn to guys. Please help? What ALL will I need to buy to get this going again? I wouldn't even mind having the Mach460 back since I have the deck sitting in parts pile.

you will need to replace the tweeters. They are a standard 4 ohm impedance but a non-standard 2.5" speaker. The smalles car audio speaker made is 3.5", no you can't make that fit. Since you have replaced the deck, I would recommend replacing all of the front speakers in order to balance it out. This can be as simple as putting some 5 x 7s or 6.5s in the lower position, and if you want to get a componant set then you can mount the tweeter in the factory location. I do not use the factory location myself because the sail panels are hard to get good imaging from.
replacing the blownstock speaker, with a newstock speaker, will make it sound stock again......
Since you have already replaced the deck, it will probably cost almost as much as the stock speaker to put a good set of 5 x 7s or 6.5 in the doors and get better sound. I would loose the tweeters all together.
