Trunk size ???
I found a box I really want for my 96 Cobra but I dont know if it will fit in the trunk. I have the Mach 460 also. I am overseas in the military so I cant go out to the driveway and measure it myself so any help would be greatly appreciated. http://www.polkaudio.com/caraudio/pr...12inch/db1222/ Thats for the box with the dimensions on it and everything. Also so ideas on a good amp would be cool too. Thanks.
putting that box in yourtrunk will be a sqaure peg in a round hole. I built a box for a buddy's 95 for a single 12 that was 13" high and barely fit. Dual 12 boxes are hard to fit, I normally recommend getting 2 - 12" boxes and loading them seperatly, screwing them together and THEN loading the boxes with the subs.
Pop your trunk and measure the opening to confirm it.

You can go throught the back seat but you will have to pull the whole back seat out(bottom and back). This will give you a little more room but you may want to measure it before doing it. I have done that sub/box package a couple times before(not in mustangs) and that box is huge. If you do get it in your trunk there goes all your storage space.
Do you have the mach system bc you will have alot less room to work with?

I tried to fit a very small box that held 2-10" JL's and it was a PIA. I had to slide the spare tire to one side so the box could have room to dip down into the tunk and had to remove the rubber molding so it could get all the way in there. I did not have the mach 460 box and the sub box was rubbing the bottom of the speakers as it was. There's no way you will ever get the same box that I did. Yes it does weight the trunk down and I removed it. I would get one 12" as you already stated. I would reccomend a wedge so you can lay it on it's back and fit it in there because you will not beable to get a square 12" box in the trunk even by itself. Maybe a single 10: square box, but def not a 12". again, get a 12" wedge or actuall there is a company that sells custom fit boxes that are premolded to match the interior. They go on either side in the trunk along the fender. Def a stealthly install for a descent price.
My buddy has an 03 Terminator with the Mach system and he fit 1x12 against the passenger side wall of the trunk and it fits great. He mounted the amp on the back of the seat and it looks clean and sounds great. I think I am going to go this route because it allows me to get a full size 12" box. The JL's need lots of air volume in the box so I need the bigger box.
