What should I do?
Here's the situation. My friend has a system in his car: sub, speakers, amp, and tweeters. 800watts peak through everything. It's too much bass for me. Another friend has the mach 460 system in his car and I love it. Seems perfect.
What should I do, set-up wise to have the right system for me. I have an ipod with about 1000 songs so I was thinking Ipod compatible CD deck, new speakers(front and back), and possibly an amp for the speakers. Will sound be that much worse without the tweeters? How strong of an amp should I get for the speakers? (4 channel amp I assume). I think with the four speakers I can max a little over 500 watts peak but I don't want to blow the speakers. All high quality **** too (alpine or pioneer). Opinions and help is appreciated.

I would do a new deck (pioneer or alpine) with ipod control which is pretty much every deck out there comes with that. Speakers i do componets in the front and just some coxials in the rear. Speakers i can shoot out specs on speakers tell you what sounds good to me but what sounds good to me will sound different to you. So your best bet is go and listen to some different speakers to see what sound good to you.
4 ch. amp will improve the sound alot it will really brightin up the speakers, but with what speakers you pick, just see what power then need toand pick the amp that will match up with the speakers. Maybe you might want to look a 5 ch. amp and on that last channel put a sub(small 10" woofer) to get that bottom end bass or do 2 amps 4 ch. and a mono or 2 ch.
4 ch. for your mids and highs and the mono or 2 ch. for you lows. If you want to go all out on the system.

Go Pioneer or Alpine deck for sure... i prefer Pioneer look and simplicity
Also you can go with Alpine Type R speakers in the back and Infinity's in the front with a 4 channel amp
that will give you enough bass to keep up with the Type R's but nothing like 2 subs, tweeters are going to reach the higher range stuff
in your music like the trebble and going to get better sound quality
