I have been afraid to pull that same trigger, for the same reasons for some time. I have a side exhaust kit for my 94 gt that I will have a real hard time keeping from lighting the polished tips as well as the brake and hood ducts.....

personally......

if you show your ride at local events or national events do what you want....lights fiberglass interiors...the skys the limit.

If you race!!!! totally different story...probably would shy away from all of the decorations

First off i say do what you want its your car and if some one doesnt like then they dont have to put it on their car

That being said I personally dont like any extra lights on a car just the stocks for me

Two things

1) The Corvette vents start at the front and project towards the rear. Lighted it gives a look of forward motion. The Mustang vents are reversed and may not give you the same look

2) Check your local laws. It may look good for shows, but come with a major fine for driving.

Other than that - GO FOR IT !
