New speaker install
Since the mach system in my 01 gt was most definately overrated ive decided to upgrade (also with the help of a leaky convertible top ruining the amps). I purchased infinity component 6 1/2s all the way around with a sony slim series amp that i located under the front passenger seat. I want to keep the stock 6 disk in dash changer. I had no problems installing all the speakers and amp but when i turn it on i have no base at all. The speakers sound ok they are just very flat. Did i forget to do something with the indash? any help appreciated
The problem is that you took the signal from the tweeters in the mach system for the input on your amp. That signal is a high pass signal which means that there is no bass in it since it would destroy your tweeters. Since you removed the factory woofers that would normally fill in that gap and replaced it with a woofer that does not have any bass in its signal.
I know you like the indash changer, it certainly is convinient isn't it? Unfortunatly since you took the factory equipment that it is made to play with so that aftermarket integration like this is hard, that is the way it was designed. Now the real downfall of the indash changer is that it is little more then a time bomb waiting to explode and take 6 of your favorite(or most recently purchased) cd with it. The loading mechanism on them has never been up to par and they always end up failing so building a systme around it the way you are is setting yourself up for failure.
The easiest way to fix your problem is to put in a new deck. You can get an intro model for a little more then a $100 and you will loose your changer but gain the bass in your signal and gain some dependability.
