Default speaker issue

i installed a different head unit in my 97 cobra which has the mach 460, i got the adapter and all to hook it up and now that i did, i only hear music out my driver side speakers, i can turn the balance either way and its nothing. if i turn all the way to right i dont hear anything, if i turn middle, only hear left, and left i only hear left, and i even tried putting back in the factory head unit and hookups and i still had the same issue, everything was working fine before i put the aftermarket head unit in? now im clueless?

that would be a strange one. Are you using just he two hrns's that were originally plugged into the back of the deck or are you using the bypass hrns the way I show on pg2 of my cardomain page?

uhh i used the kit off crutchfield, taht still uses the factor plug ins, then once that issue happened, i tried hooking everything completely back up to factory and same issue, and i dont understand either. that reminds me i still gotta get that place back becuase they wont pay to fix the problem they created.

I'm having the same issue, or so I thought.

I have a 98 mustang with the upgraded stereo, I ripped it all out down to the basic factory harness. https://mustangforums.com/forum/audio-visual-electronics/490988-i-m-gonna-cut-the-red-one-and-the-blue-one-and.html

Now, when I put my new shiny deck in there, the speakers all worked. BUT, when I play with the balance and choose only the left speakers, they don't work. But when I put the balance to the middle, they all work.. . ODD... I'm going to do some more troubleshooting tomorrow, I'll let you know what I come up with.

YO! ECSTASY, WHEN YOU FIND SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM YOU HAVE DROP ME A LINE
CAUSE WE'RE IN THE SAME BOAT, I RAN INTO THE SAME PROBLEM WITH CRUTCHFIELD.
I WIRED A SONY XPLODE DECK TO MY '94 STANG GT AND HAVE THE SAME SYMPTOM.
IT EVEN LACKS POWER,FULL VOLUME STILL SOFT AND DISTORTED.I EVEN WENT ON MY
FORD WEB SIGHT TO LOOK UP ELEC. SCHEMATICS AND FOUND OUT THE COLOR CODES
TO THE WIRES ARE SET UP WRONG IN THE CONNECTOR.YOU MIGHT WANT TO LOOK INTO IT. JUST A RECOMMENDATION CHECK CONTINUITY IN HARNESS TO INOP SPEAKERS
AND IN SPEAKERS THEMSELVES TO BE SURE PROBLEM NOT ONLY EXISTS IN HEAD UNIT HARNESS. THERE'S A POSSIBILITY THAT A SHORT MIGHT HAVE OCCURRED. LET ME KNOW. MY EMAIL IS (www.Stoked2BStroked302@rocketmail.com)

so all three of you got your harnesses recently from crutchfield? In the 10+ years that I have installed I only had a bad hrns one time but it could happen and they could have a bad batch.

If that is the case I would recommend one of you go to a local car audio shop and either buy a hrns from them, or just ask if you could compair your hrns to theirs to see if the pins are switched on it.

I have never heard of this problem with mustangs until this post

I'm not sure where my harness came from.. It was on the aftermarket deck from the previous owner of the car, I just reused it.

The only difference I did was butcher/remove the upgraded stereo harness, and just use the basic one.. with my deck.
