Default Xenon VS. HID

I was told my 2005 Mustang V6 would look cooler with some Xenon headlights. I am not experienced with lights so which is better, for both looks and usefulness, HID or Xenon.

Also if anyone could describe what I would have to do to put them in my car. I get the feeling that all you do is replace the halogen bulb with an HID or Xenon one, but I'm not sure.

Thanks alot.

HID= high intensity discharge, they are lamps which produce light by combining metal and gases inside a bulb, the gas used for head lamps is usually xenon, so "hid or xenon" is an oxymoron... anyway you have to buy a kit, americanmuscle has them and you can find some pics on their site to see how they look. or you can check out cars like infinitis lexus or bmw's the lights are a bluish white if you get the i recommend you to stay between 6000k and 8000k (luminosity the highest the number the bluish--->purplish) and less bright, also make sure you aim those things to the floor or you will blind other drivers

hid's will need to have a ballast installed, one per light. Cheap hid kits come with cheap ballasts and will not last long, you get what you pay for.

how long are the ballasts suppose to last? I'm going to buy a cheap kit off ebay because I don't think its necessary to pay over 200$ for 2 lights.

your going to get what you pay for............. If you do a search on here we get a person every few months that has all kinds of problems with them. Cheap ballasts are, well cheap and ballasts do a difficult job electronically and do burn out from time to time.

I checked out american muscles installation guide on this and did the rest of you that installed this, tape the bulb in there? That doesn't seem safe or reliable. Something that goes for 300$ taped in there doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. Also did you have to re-align the head lights, cause im not sure if i cld do that one.
