Proper set up for 1000W power inverter?
http://cobra.com/index.cfm?fuseactio...&category_ID=6
I recently bought a Cobra power inverter (CPI 1000) for my truck. It's pretty sweet. It came with 2' 8 Gauge wire with battery clamps but I need to run it from the battery to the inside of the cab for a permanent setup.
Cobra recommends 2AWG Gauge for this type of application. Is this necessary?
I don't know what I will be powering. It's just for luxury or in case I need to power or charge a TV, laptop, or whatever. I realized that it's overkill for these items but hey, I'd rather have too much power.
I've looked on ebay for some. I found this: http://cgi.ebay.com/POWER-ACOUSTIK-K...3A1|240%3A1318
I'm also concerned about the material I need. Some say copper, some say clad aluminum.
Thanks in advance.

1000W for a just in case? You realize that to power that at a 1000 watts you will need to upgrade your alternator as well as all the factory power wires? The factory grounds are a little larger then 8 awg so even if you run 2 awg to your inverter the electrical choke point will be at the grounds. I understand that more is better and all that jazz but I think you overshot your goal a little bit here.
as for wire material OFC copper is the standard, for now....
