Default 95 cobra coupe box ideas?

hey guys, planning on getting a sub for my car soon and I'm not sure on what to do for the box. I'm going with a single 12 either incriminator lethal injection or fi audio ssd. I was thinking of going sub up port back but I'm not really sure what to do in a trunk car. I've only done a couple systems and they've been in trucks and hatchbacks. so any input would be appreciated. I'm thinking either sub up aero port back or I was thinking subs foreward but I heard that was a bad idea.

thanks in advance

Funny you posted this. I was just reading a thread the other day on car audio forum about the LI speakers. Truthfully, I have never heard them bang in person, but they seem to be catching on with people. Price is fantastic. The guy Nick from incriminator is on the forum and spec's it out at 2-2.5 cf tuned to 28-34hz.

a single 12 gives you all kinds of options. I did a single 12 for a buddy of mine in his 95gt. It was just a simple and clean system were the amp was viewable with the seat down, sub firing back in a sealed enclosure.

the box for my 94 gt holds 4 - 8's but with a little work could be configered for a single 12.

good choice in sub. i personally would do step up from the ssd and do a fi q. they dont need alot of power.

if you can fit sub back port back those generally have better output in trunk cars.
personally im going sub up port back since i cant really fit a box in and pull it out when i need to without struggling.

first design is

gives you about 1ft^3@32hz.
this one gives you 1.2ft^3@33hz

but for this design you ned a 4" aero port 16" long i order to get that tuning. also the port needs to fire out the right side nearest the sub.

ok I was thinking with port back sub back it would be too closed off and restrictive but I don't know I've only done one crappy install in a trunk car. a

TTocs I really like the way you did the box for your 8's but I'm not very good with carpentry lol. I don't think I'd ever get it to fit right.

I haven't fully measured it out yet I'v just checked height and it was only 15 in thats why I was thinking of going with the sub up. I know thats still not much room but easier to fit than the sub back or foreward firing.

now that I think about it, has anyone done a box all the way to the back firing foreward? I don't know if thats a better idea but it seams like there would be a lot more room.

give me you max dimensions and dont forget to measure trunk opening and i can get you a design.

but dont 4get how hard the box will be to get it in if its going to have port/sub fire back or forward.

ok well I just measured it out and theres 36 in between the back of the seats and the back of the trunk and 36 in wide from the smallest point and 15 in tall at the lowest point. so, what I was thinking would be about 25 in wide 16 in deep and 14 in tall. that would come out to about 2.5 cubic feet which the fi ssd is recommended for a ported box the sub displacement is .14 cu ft and is recommended to port around 33hz. I don't know if thats what would be best for my car what do you think? and thanks for offering so much help and if you could get a design that would be great.

you will need to build your box dimensions by what you can fit through the opening. I built a small box(.75cubic feet) for a buddys 95 that held a single 12 and had to take the rubber gasket that goes around the trunk opening off for it to fit. A large box will have to be carefully planned to get it in, and no you do not gain anything going through the back seat........
