Big Three: Alt to Battery
So I've done a fair amount of searching, and I cannot find a really reliable walk through for how to replace the big three on my car. I understand the grounds, that is simple enough. The wire that is bothering me is the one that leads from your alternator to your positive side of the battery. Does the wire go from the top of your alternator, to the outside of the fuse box, and then to the positive terminal of your battery? I'd just like some confirmation on this before I blow up my battery or burn out my alternator. Also, what fuses, if any, will I need to replace?
Thanks for any help.

it doesn't really matter. I just did mine on my truck, and I kinda go over it on my cardomain page for my stang.
In my stang, I ran a new wire from the alt, to the fuse holder I installed, and then off of that to the lug to the battery. To clean things up a little bit I took the factory power wires that were connected to the battery and connected them instead to the factory fusebox's power lug. I then ran another 4 awg from the batt, to a fuse holder, then to the fusebox. By doing this all the power wires going to the battery were the new high current cable and it just looked neater. The lug on the factory fusebox is nothing more then a clean spot that you can divide the voltage and as long as you follow rule #1 to fuse the power wires with in 12" of the battery you will be fine.
