Default Wiring question for the S197 guys

I am completely rewiring the audio system and have run into a slight issue. As I was figuring out the best routing to get the speaker wire into the doors I realized that there is a huge bulkhead plug for the factory door harness.

Those of you that have rewired your door could you please share how you have gotten around this plug? I am not a big fan of drilling any holes in plugs. If you have any pics they would be appreciated.

the only way I have gotten through those is with a drill.......

What are you wanting to do? You probably do not need to rewire the system if you do not want to.

Thanks for the info ttocs, I was afraid of that.

pentavolvo, I am running the new wire due to the fact that I am going to be running much higher power than the stock Shaker500 is pushing. I am routing 12ga wire for all of the speakers compared to the 24ga they have now. The Shaker system distorts badly at half volume using the Alpine head unit that is installed. So I am replacing all of the speakers with Fosgate power series components in the doors and coaxials in the rear deck. I have also installed 2 12" Fosgate power series subs in the rear. The amp pushing the subs is tested at 1400 watts @2 ohms and 14v. The separates are powered by a 4 channel tested at 150 watts x4. They are both Fosgate power series amps also. It is a very similar setup as a buddy of mine. It is CRAZY loud but maintains good clarity. If I remember later I'll post all of the specs later.

Thanks again fellas for the info.

The shaker system amps operate at 5volts. Did you take that into consideration on your Alpine installation?

You should be aware that speaker placement is just as important as speaker type and quality. Be aware that the doors may not be the best place for your speakers.
