Default Which Portable GPS for $250?

I have never used one and I am going to need one (or would like one) soon. It's going to bounce from two cars or else I would buy an "in-dash" head unit. I can afford up to $275 but prefer the $250 mark. I looked up some but I dont know which brand or features are good ones to have.
What is the best I can get for that price?
Thanks in adavanced.

TomTom is OK....but check nuvi 255w bc it comparable to the 340s XL But IMO garmin is best out there you may pay alittle more but it is worth it.

TomTom always have a problem with keeping the sat signal, dont know if they fixed that with there new models this year.
