Default 2008 Shaker 500 in a 2005

I bought a 2008 Shaker 500 unit off the forums. I went to install it today, and I had two problems:

1) The antenna connector on the back of the radios is different. The 2005 has a hole on the back, and the antenna has a post that goes into the hole. The 2008 looks more like a female coax connector on the back of the unit, its got a sleeve with a slender wire coming out that apparantly the antenna plugs into.

2) With the power connected, the CD mode of the 2008 was sitting on Intitializing for a long time, and it looked like it was searching for disks or something. Is this normal?

Can I over come these differences or should I look for a 2005 replacement?

Wow, what luck. I was out and stopped into a car audio shop and they sold me the 40-CR20. I got home, and everything is working fine now! Thanks for the info!

just so you know, ford programs the cd players to lock up when it is sure it has your 6 most favorite disks in it. There is no fix, only replace.

My Shaker 500's CD changer / player crapped out with a similar error.. Ford has known about this for years, but has done nothing but provide you a link to a refurbisher up in Michigan. They charge $250! For that, I'm gonna go third party so if it breaks again, I won't be stuck in the vicious circle.

Really? That is a very common part...... Since every chrysler from 2003 to 2008, every GM from 2007 and up, and now every Ford starting on some vehicles in 2006 and now every Ford factory radio uses it..... So if you wanted to do any type of FM mod you would need the standard and reverse antenna adapters so most shops will stock those parts, bc how common those vehicles are.....

I too just bought a 2008 Shaker 500 to replace a 2005. Besides the antenna, did it require anything else to swap them out(security codes, dealer programming etc?
