Default Pioneer products help/advice needed

I'm looking for a replacement for the stock shaker 500 unit and Pioneer devices seem to be very popular so I had some questions:

1)The ipod integration is made possible by the installation of an additional cord, correct? How well does the interface work? Can movies be played off an ipod?

2)The AVIC-D3 seems very popular but I don't really need the navigation features, I am really looking for a good DVD/CD/Ipod system, would either of these work or are there better systems?

3)I want to be able to play DVD's while driving, would I be able to get an installer (such as bestbuy) to bypass the safety feature with some persuasion($$)? Or is this even required on all units?

Thanks in advance for any help/answers.

I know it's been a while since you asked but I had the avh-p4000dvd in my
'06 GT and I loved it. As far as controls on the screen, they work great. I purchased the ipod cable and ran it into my console and was able to forget about my ipod in the console and just control it on the touch screen. You can get around the parking brake issue. I have seen the wire that is supposed to be spliced onto the parking brake wire instead be run to a simple on/off toggle switch installed in the console. Not that I would do that but it worked. By the way, I just bought an 09 GT and I have every intention of getting another pioneer system since the first one worked so well.

You can easily splice the safety wire into the ground and that should do the trick.
