Default Upgrading '99 standard system

Hello everyone.
I'm looking to upgrade my stereo system for my 1999. This is a standard 4 speaker 6x8 system with after market head unit and subs. I'm not claiming to know a lot about car audio, because i don't. I'm listing what i have and what I'm looking for based on some research I've been doing. If you can offer some input, criticism, or links to products then that would be great.

current setup
HU: Sony CDX-GT10w

Speakers: Stock 6x8s

Amp: Lighting audio (came with car)

Subs: 2x Total Mobile Audios (came with car)

I listen to mostly alternative and classic rock, so am looking for a setup that can punch hard but give me some nice lows as well. Budget-wise I'm pretty open but don't want to spend a massive amount. I'm looking to amp my front stage as well as the rear stage.

What I'm looking at:
HU: Kenwood Excelon

Door Speakers: KAPPA680.7CS - Infinity 6" x 8"
OR
Alpine SPR-17S
OR
Kicker KS-Series 6.5

Rear Fill Speakers: Not sure if i should match the doors or go a bit cheaper here since rears aren't heard that much

Front stage amp: Will look at once front speakers are picked

Subs: 2x Alpine 12" Type-R
OR
anything else, not sure on these either

Sub Amp:Kenwood KAC-9104D
OR
anything else, not sure

Please tell me what you think and if you have any recommendations. I still have a lot to pick out, but since i'm working on the front first I have plenty of time to pick out the rear. please post links as well if you have recommendations. I'm sure we can all agree that no matter what setup i get, it would be better than the current system. Thank you for the help.
