Center Console

how do you take appart the center console on a 01 v6. im going to install my unit and system today and i cant take the center cover out and get in there.

your head unit? you shouldnt need to take off the center console for that, just pop out the old and get all the wires connected to your new one....i must be missing something cuz you shouldnt have to take it off for a head unit...

what i meant was the cover around the dash in the center where the radio, AC, and that other stuff is

Well..according to brother HAYNES..

Remove the radio and compact disc player.(if equipped)

Detach(fancy for unscrew) the retaining screws from the lower half of the trim panel..mid way up you should see 2 screws, I checked my 00 GT

Using a small screwdriver, pry out the clips securing the top of the bezel then unsnap the clips in the center of the trim panel and remove it from the vehicle

Installation is the reverse from removal

Your deck can slide right out. You just need the Ford Keys to remove the deck. I've also heard that you can use coat hangers to get it out. I think www.mustangworld.com has a tut or a diy on this.
