Want to keep Mach460 setup w/ new headunit
Okay, here's what I want to do. I want to keep my Mach 460 amps and basically replace the headunit with something that outputs the sound as RCA Red/White cables. What do I need without having to bypass the amps or buy a new one. I don't feel like spending a ****load of money.
Below is my original post, there's a picture that kinda explains what I'm talking about.

I want to keep my 460 setup in my 04, but I wanna rip out the stock headunit and replace it with an LCD screen (I'm building a car computer).
Now herein lies the problem, from the computer's sound card, I can convert it from the tradtional "Headphone"-sized jack to the Red/White RCA outputs as seen in this picture:
Do I need that coupler harnes dohicker and how/where do I attach it to? The amps? I'm a bit confused. Any help would be keen before I go ripping this thing apart today.

RE: Quirky Mach 460 Install Setup (check it out)
You plug those into the wires you take out of the back of the stock radio. They will not plug on the wrong spot

Unfortunately the headphone out is a variable level output and the phono (RCA) jacks are line level. You can do it but be very careful about your levels (both the computer and your head unit) when listening - you can blow your amps in a heartbeat if you're not careful. I'm not sure if the harness will allow you to hook it up that way but if you know what you're doing you can hardwire it. Otherwise, leave it alone or take it to a professional.

Not going to work. Im an car stereo installer youll lose the sub if thats what yoru worrying about. to my knowledge no one has figured out to integrate that sub with an aftermarket head unit.

If you all you want to do is intergrate a subwoofer in your system then check out this link. <http://www.mustangworld.com/ourpics/...peeds1.htm> I have also been told that it is possible to install an aftermarket headuint, and still use the stock amps, if the headunit has at least 3 RCA preouts. Hope that helps
