Mach 460 sounds weak, distorted
Hello,
I am helping a friend with his 1997 Cobra. He has a JVC headunit, and the harness adapter kit.
I helped him figure out how to wire it back (It had been cut up) and fixed his mistake of not putting power to the amp switch wire.
But, once we got it all working, the highs are great and sound clear, but the lows sound weak, and very distorted.
He doesn't know if the amps have ever worked, and the speakers are Alpine units that have been verified to be working, but they sound "blown out". The tweeters sound great and clear.
I have been wiring vehicles and homes for a long time now, and I can say the subs are wired correctly, but even the subs in the doors are weak.
We also tried swapping the amplifier that sits under the headunit with one from a previous year and the results are exactly the same.
I appreciate any advice. I really don't think that the amplifiers are blown, but obviously I could be wrong. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Dave
