Default Simle advice needed, please :)

This isn't actually for a Mustang, it's for my gf's 2008 Civic SI, but would just like some general information. If anything, I can adapt the info to my own needs later down the road. Just looking to bump up her stuff alittle, which is all stock (six 6.5" speaker system).

What would be some decent 6.5" speakers to install, and also a nice headunit to go along with it? Probably going to do the speakers first, and then the headunit later if she still would like it. Budget is like 300$ for the 3 pairs of speakers, and maybe 400$ for the deck...

I searched some Pioneer stuff real quick becuase that's what I had in my old car and it was decent enough. Was looking at the TS-D702P speakers and baffles for about 285$. They are actually 6.5S units (6.75", 171.45mm vs 165.1mm), so I'm buying a caliper and will take some measurements before I drop 300$ on speakers..

Nic

Here's a nice deal for the 6.5"s... Complete with crossover and tweeters. Get a nice head unit and a cheap 4 channel amp and you're golden. Can always add a sub later if you like.

I'd rather stick with coaxils

Doing a headunit first would result in better sound from her stock speakers.

Also dropping in new speakers to a stock amp'd, stock stereo system doesn't do much... It underpowers speakers which damages speakers easier then overpowering them

In a sense you are right, but you cannot damage a speaker by under powering them. It is when the signal becomes dirty and you end up clipping it, that is where harm can be done.

Op you can also get a component set that are convertible mountable which would work well also.

new, better speakers will have the most noticable and dynamic effect on the sound system. then amps then head unit. just and FYI.

OP for good coax look into Image Dynamics, Hertz, Hybrid Audio, Focal, CDT, Arc Audio, Boston Accoustics, JL Audio. there tons of choices. you best bet is to listen to everything you can and let your ears tell you what sounds best. or in this case her.

I thought her stock sound system was six 6.5" speakers, but I think that is the Si model, which her's is not. Now I'm pretty certain it's 6.5" in front doors, 5.25" in rear deck, and 1" tweeters in the dash. I did some research on the civic forums and the stock speakers aren't simply mounted to the chassis, they are attached to a 1" plastic spacer which is attached to the chassis. That should make it really simple, I can just get some 1" spacers for the speakers I want to run. Currently looking at these, and leaving the dash alone for now...

Headunit and amp are next, but will have to wait for some more cash. Speakers, spacers, and baffles will be 200$, I can live with that.

Gotcha. Have you checked crutchfield.com? If you know her exact model you can just enter it in and it will tell ya what size everything is so you're not guessing.

I wouldn't buy from them though, really expensive compared to other places but you could find what you like and search other sites to buy em from.
