Default Wiring Help? Sub to amp...

Ok i have a RE AUdio SX15" D4 sub and a Zapco I-force I-4100

It's a 4 channel amp and i have been running my sub in a parallel series to two channels bridge. Is there any way i can use all 4 channels so i can get more out of my amp?

I was powering 2 alpine type Rs but i wanted to upgrade so i got the SX but i don't know how to wire a 1 d4 sub to a 4 channel amp. Any information would be great.

Since the amp is 4 ohm bridged stable front and rear, I'd bridge the front channels to one set of coils and the rear channels to the other set of coils. That way, each coil could potentially receive 300 watts RMS.

I am sure someone is going to come back and say something about level matching, stereo versus mono, or some other smart remark... From someone who has run multiple amplifiers to one subwoofer in the days before "strapping" became a feature, I'll just say that it is perfectly acceptable to do this! Granted, I did set my gains with a digital multi-meter to ensure that the amplifiers were relatively close in output, but that was it.

Thanks...yeah that is what my buddy told me as well. He is the one i purchased the amp from which we got to run my 2 alpine type R's but i upgraded to this, which i got from him as well ( Authorized dealer so i get all my stuff with a huge discount ;D lol) . So he just told me the same thing as well but it throughs my amp into protect right away when i turn it up. He explained everything to me and i am set to go. Thanks for the help man. And u are right that is the way to wire it up.

I have mines bridged and their wired like this on my 4 Channel |__|XX|---|__|XX|

One side is hooked up on each side either negative or positive on each.

The only question I would ask is are you sure this is a Dual Voice Coil sub with 4 ohms per coil? I ask because RE's site shows DC resistance at 1.9 per coil and that is awfully LOW for a 4 ohm nominal impedance. That could be the reason your amplifier is going into protect when you crank it up.

Well the sub is a SX15" and on the box it says D2 and D4. The d4 is checked.

About the amp this is what my buddy said (the guy i bought it from, a autherized dealer for zapco + more)

Dual 2 ohm sub IIRC. The amp probably doesn't like being @ 2 ohm mono on that sub (they tend to stay pretty low in their impedance, especially the way that box is designed)...the Type R's you had before probably didn't run that low which is why they worked....

When I had my two Pioneer 10's wired parallel it flipped my amp off quick, but then I ran them in a series and it works fine just doesnt hit AS hard.

I had my 2 (4ohm) Type R's each hooked up in a parallel series bridged so i was using two channels....But then i switched to this RE and he said hook up each voice coil to a bridged channel and i did and it kicks the amp off before i can even hit note haha So i have it wired in a parallel series going to one bridged channel right now. So i am only using 500 tops out of my 1000 watt amp.
